Our Story
The Genesis of Epic
The seeds of Epic were sown in 1981 when Somers K. Butcher established Binary Research Inc. (BRI), and Butcher Capital Management both custom software development company. BRI primarily focused on creating bespoke business solutions for clients ranging from sole proprietors to Fortune 500 corporations.
Alongside client work, BRI invested 20% of its efforts into developing proprietary software. This included a double-entry accounting system, a CRM system, a project management tool, and an innovative SRM (Sales Relationship Manager) designed to streamline early-stage sales, manage large email campaigns, and convert traditional business information into digital formats. The SRM’s extensive database of over 140 million mobile numbers further enhanced its capabilities.
In 2025, BRI recognized a critical need: a comprehensive, cost-effective business solution for small businesses with fewer than 10 employees. The goal was to empower these businesses with the same powerful tools typically reserved for larger corporations, without incurring additional costs. Moreover, the platform was designed to become a valuable asset, enhancing the overall business value.
The culmination of this vision was the birth of Epic Biz ERP in 2024, which was officially released in the spring of 2025.
